The Grump Factor

You are sitting at your desk, reading your email and open the latest missive from your boss. Once again the bonehead has come up with a new direction for your company. You clear your throat and ask the person next to you Have you seen what the idiot has sent us now?. In the cafeteria you sit with your co-workers grossing about how stupid this company is. But this doesnt just happen today. Everyday you find yourself at odds with the management. And while you have always been a good soldier and done exactly what was asked of you, you cant help but let your feelings be known.

Or perhaps you are the more silent type. Sighing, rolling your eyes, and simply showing through your body language that you are greatly put upon.

You might think that if you are really good at your job, and you do everything that has been asked of you that you will remain, in the eyes of your employer, a valuable member of the team.

However, in these times of cutbacks, more and more employers are considering the grump factor. Simply put, the grump factor is a measure of how difficult it is to deal with an employee. How grumpy you are.

Recently a Fortune 500 company had to make a 20% cut in their workforce. The management chose the people that were going to be laid off. Every single employee was a hard worker, in fact some off them were the best at what they did. Each employee tried to figure out why THEY were chosen? What was the reason that the more incompetent employees were left standing while they were let go? Was it that they earned more money? Was it a personal vendetta against them? Was it sexism or ageism? Each employee failed to look at where the blame lay. Which was at their own feet. In a discussion with the management they stated that they used the grump factor. Employees that had a bad attitude were considered expendable.

Obviously when it comes time to downsize many factors are considered. But more and more employers want to work with people who are easy to deal with.(use mr rogers here) Employees who love what they do, and show others that they love it. I am not talking about a saccharin sweet phony attitude, I mean a sincere joy.

When Barbara Walters is asked by young people What do I have to do to get ahead?

She tells them Dont complain, dont whine. Just make yourself so good that they cannot let you go. And dont be afraid to get the coffee if they ask you to get the coffee.

Not sure if youre being perceived as a grump, take this simple test.

Do you find yourself very easily identifying problems with your company and/or co workers?

Do you share that information with others? (including family, friends , co-workers)

Do you discount possible solutions as unworkable?

Is your criticism a validation of your over all perspective?

Do you often hear others with similar complaints?

Do you lend a willing ear to their complaints?

Do you sigh, roll your eyes or otherwise display your negative feelings using body language or tone of voice?

Are your creating less because of your displeasure?

Are you late to work or meetings?

Do you resent helping others finish their work?

Are you waiting for a change to happen?

Has anyone pointed out your negative behavior?

Do you have good reasons to be unhappy at work?

This is a family. You spend more time here than you do at home. Low maintenance easy

1. I like to have people who are low maintenance easy to get along with each other

2. All residents have gone through med school

3. all have high test scores

4. all have good letters from their hospitals

How to overcome being a grump

Begin with a simple act of gratitude. No matter what your religious or secular background you need to find a daily way to express your gratitude for what you have. Start a gratitude journal

The Lead Creation Station (Want Good Qualified MLM Leads? Part 2)

So, you want to have an endless supply of qualified prospects? Not just qualified real time surveyed mlm leads...but real educated opportunity buyers (not seekers), who will never say: let me think about it, is this a pyramid?, I dont have any money, or I just dont have enough time. Arent you sick of hearing those lies?

I never deal with those annoying brush-off comments anymore. I know what they are like, and I truly feel your pain! I spent my hard-time on the phone for countless hours getting more answering machines than anything else, but not anymore. No one should need to do that anymore. Stop Cold Calling Leads! Its a painful strategy that makes up the 95% club.

I dont need to convince anyone that hearing NO 10, 20, or 200 times a day is hard on the psyche, no wonder the attrition levels in these conventional network marketing businesses is so high!

So what do you do about it? How can you just hear the yeses, and talk to people who are worth your time?

I said in the last article; Want Good Qualified MLM Leads? That you wouldnt like the answer: You need to generate them yourself. Hold On! Dont run off just yet! Its not that hard, and the rewards are enormous. Imagine waking up in the morning and checking your email to find out you just had 2 signups from the other side of the world while you were sleeping, and you have never even said hello. Thats what this will do for you. This happens for me all the time!

Even if you have the most amazing: cancer-curing, gas-saving, guaranteed-money-making, clean-anything, old-age-reversing, miracle box no one will buy from you if they dont know it exists. So, get seen! Lots!

Methods include: Search engines, both Pay-per-click and organic, newspaper ads, magazine ads, article writing, press release, ezines, even TV and radio spots! I recommend a nice blend of these, with an emphasis on search engines and articles.

If you need help setting up a Google Adwords account I recorded a beginners tele-conference you can dial into 24hours/day at (641) 985-5999 Extension:

13781#, regular long distance applies. This is defiantly one of my favorite tools, and I am passionate about it (as you will soon see).

The first thing you will learn after you advertise; when someone answers your ad it does not mean they are going to buy right there, so you will need to develop a relationship with them. Because most people dont buy the first time they see your ad, statistics show that it takes about 7 times! Like I mentioned earlier you are not going to start a conversation with them on the phone about the weather, you arent even going to need to send out an email. This is all taken care of for you automatically, even if you are out of town.

You will need the next tool in your box called an autoresponder; you can find these all over the internet (just do a Google search). Make sure you actually pay for it though, free versions often will advertise competing ads in your emails, and/or are very limited in what they can do. This will be the most useful weapon in your marketing arsenal, so dont skimp on this. It allows you to literally forget about your prospects until they contact you because they are ready to buy, or you have a special offer to let them in on.

In these emails you are not constantly pitching them on your deal, this will get annoying for anybody, and this is the most common mistake made by internet marketers. You will want to position yourself as an expert, and someone who can help them. Often give tips and tricks for how to make money in a generic way, educate them about your industry, give away free software, even a joke once in a while is worth it. That way they will be more likely to read your ad, when it does come.

Now of course the next one is getting trickier all the time. You will want a way to get your prospects to opt in to your auto responder. Because of spam complaints and new laws etc, you cant just buy an old genealogy list of 50 bazillion leads for $10 and start blasting out emails or you will likely loose your ISP!

Using a lead capture page is the option I like best, you are able to drive your prospects to your site and after they put in their info they are yours until they opt out. Dont just send them to your corporate site or you have lost that lead forever. You have heard it a thousand times before; the money is in your list.

If you know html you can build yourself a good lead capture page yourself. But if you are like me, and learning how to build a website is low on your priority list, you can have one built for you. In fact I recommend having several specific ones that you can target to different audiences.

So in this order you want to:
Get/write a good email campaign
Find a good autoresponder (I use response magic)
Build at least one capture page, or have them built
Drive as much targeted traffic as you can to your site.

Thats it, thats what the top income earners in our industry are doing. That simple 4 step plan that will save you so much time, you will never waste time with a tire-kicker again.

Remember a good plan executed today is WAY better than a perfect plan executed next year. Dont wait for perfection, it will never happen anyway. You will tweak and improve things along the way, this is a given. The most important thing you can do is implement these strategies now.

Amaze yourself, improve your business, live, love, and laugh! Thats what life is all about, success...whatever that means to you, achieve it.
